BCM London and their group of experienced workers provided excellent service, cleanup, and responsiveness to our needs. We were constantly making changes along the project and BCM London did a great job adjusting the scope of the project to meet our final needs. We got estimates from three local qualified contractors and BCM London was the only one who spelled out each step of the construction process item by item with prices in the written estimate. The other contractors just game us a lump sum and vague details of the scope which I could tell was going to lead to major change orders. BCM London was picked for their attention to detail from the beginning which lasted throughout the life of the remodel process. Their accounting system worked great with emailed invoices at the predetermined phases of the project as agreed upon during the estimate process. The projects turned out fantastic and we are asking for additional estimates for future projects.

It was indeed a pleasure to work with BCM London Inc. for a master bathroom remodeling, which included replacement of bathtub, shower, toilet, lighting and vanity, plus complete floor tiling and new window installation. Prior to the project, all details were discussed, Certificate of Insurance and License offered and References provided. The Estimate of project was detailed and accurate; giving a breakdown of timing and cost for completion. During the project, each step was made known in advance and execution completed as described. All sub-contractors were extremely courteous, skilled craftsmen, completing all the work on time and meeting all the details outlined within the original Estimate. Again, it was indeed a great pleasure to work with BCM London Inc. and would highly recommend for home construction and/or remodeling projects.

Basement Finishing Cumming

Finishing the basement in your Cumming

home is sure to bring new comfort and functionality to your home life. Before getting started be sure to consider the following important points on basement finishing

No. 1 " Look at Your Basement in a New Light

Don't let the cold foreboding concrete and clutter of stored items fool you, the basement has plenty of potential to be the new extension of your home and living needs. Look at your basement as if it were any other room of your home and you may find some great ways to transform the lowest spot in your home to the new social spot. The best thing is that these are fairly basic projects and won't take too large a chunk from your improvements budget.

No. 2-- Keep It Dry

The first thing you will want to do is make sure that flooding is prevented. Check around the basement for signs that water can be an issue and take appropriate measures to avoid this. Sump pumps can be installed that will drain a flooded basement in a hurry. This is something to consider and ask your basement finishing Cumming contractor. The plumbing department of your local supplies store will have this item and information on how to install the device.

Make a tour around the exterior of the basement and be sure that the land is graded away from the basement so that rain run-off will not be channeled into your den. Finally, inspect the masonry work within the basement with a fine-toothed comb. Cracks and chinks in the concrete can allow water to leak in from the outside and should be mended before they cost you valuable time and resources.

No. 3 -- Know the Code

If you have already inspected the basement and mended any cracks and leaks, then you should start coming up with a plan for your basement finishing. Before you start the laying the groundwork, you will want to clear all of your projects with your local municipal code. This is especially essential if you will be doing any plumbing or electrical upgrades. The authorities will want to inspect the work to make sure it has been done properly and there are no risks.

No. 4 -- Consider the Fasteners

There aren't a great many materials that can be applied to building your basement walls, and masonry brick and cement won't give easily to simple nails and screws that might work upstairs. You will need drills, bits and proper fasteners to anchor your walls in place. If the project is going to be especially heavy-duty, you may even need to rent a powder-actuated fastener. These charges actually fire the fastener into the wall with a shotgun like cartridge " what a Joy!

No. 5. -- Vapor Barriers

Even after you have concluded your mending of all the water issues in the basement it is still possible for moisture to be a problem. The basement is a damp place and keeping the issue contained will save you big bucks in the future. The best idea is to lay out some vapor barriers within your framing and finishing project. One good idea is to lay down the moisture panels and leave them there for a couple of days before continuing on the project. When, you return you will see how much moisture is coming through. Keep in mind that different times of year are drier or wetter than others in Georgia, and just because you see nothing in these two days doesn't cancel out the need for an effective barrier in your basement finishing.

No. 6 -- Consider the Offset space

While certain arid regions will have no problem, those that experience plenty of rain and humidity will find moisture can still be an issue. To address this, add furring strips: these are thin metal or wood slats that can create a slight offset from the exterior wall. These can also be used level out a wall that appears a bit off balance.

No. 7 -- Keep Out the Cold

In addition to extra warmth in the winter, a layer of insulation can also help to reduce problems with moisture in the basement and prevent sounds from entering from outside. The best insulations options contain moisture protection panels on either side. The newly available spray foam is another excellent option for basement finishing.

No. 8 -- Drop Ceilings Provide Easy Access

Ceilings that drop down are suspended to the ceiling and provide a great way to hide all the electrical wiring and plumbing behind attractive removable tiles. These ceiling will reduce the height of the ceiling so keep that in mind as well.

No. 9 -- Give your Lighting Some Extra Attention

If you will be including a drop down ceiling type in your basement, take a moment to consider the best lighting options available for your needs. The convenient space within the drop ceiling can house all manner of recessed lighting options and many more practical ideas as well.

No. 10 -- Consider extra warmth under the floorboards

The basement can be one of the coldest rooms in the home, but it also provides one of the best solutions to keeping the entire home nice and toasty. By adding some heating pads below the floorboards on the lowest level of the house, you can take advantage of thermodynamics to keep your whole home warm and save on energy expenses. The baseboard heating solutions is easy to install and connects directly to your existing HVAC system. If you finish the project and find you need space heaters to survive in the newly finished basement, you will incur a scathing energy expense.

Bonus Tip -- Keep the utility room clear

The room that houses the HVAC, boilers, water heaters or any other important appliances should be kept clear, clean, uncluttered and unfinished. There are very specific codes for basement finishing in Cumming that require these rooms to be left in a specific condition to reduce risks as well as make inspections and repairs easier to perform.
